“Brands of Belgium” store puts Belgian SMEs in the spotlight

As part of its commitment to connect local customers with local businesses, Amazon.com.be has launched the “Brands of Belgium” store. On www.amazon.com.be/brands-of-belgium customers can discover a dedicated storefront for new, emerging, and established local brands. Launching with more than 100 Belgian businesses, Belgian customers can choose from thousands of local products across categories including Food & Drink, Fashion, Beauty, Health & Personal Care, and Home & Kitchen. The storefront also features a bespoke ‘hand-painted’ design by the Belgian artist Tom Schamp. Combining traditional acrylic techniques with digital composition, the balance of craft and technology represents Amazon.com.be’s ambition to empower Belgian entrepreneurship with Amazon’s technology.

“Building a strong relationship with Belgian brands – whether small or large – is incredibly important to us, as we know that our customers enjoy shopping local. We want Amazon.com.be to be a place where they can do that, and where we can empower Belgian businesses to grow”, said Eva Faict.

“As we open our doors to the “Brands of Belgium” store today, we invite Belgian businesses to come join us in making Amazon.com.be a true home for local businesses for many years to come.”

Sustainable packaging for products delivered by Amazon and Fulfilment by Amazon

Since 2015, Amazon has reduced the weight of outbound packaging per shipment by more than 38% and eliminated more than 1.5 million tons of packaging material. To significantly decrease the use of plastics in its packaging, Amazon.com.be has switched single-use plastic delivery bags to recyclable paper bags and cardboard envelopes for orders shipped from Amazon’s Fulfilment Centres, and has also replaced protective air pillows with 100% recycled and 100% recyclable paper filling. This includes items sold by Amazon and third-party selling partners that use Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA). Amazon is also increasing the number of products it sells that can be shipped in their original packaging provided by the manufacturer, with only an address label added.
