We’ve all had to wrap a gift before – some fun that can sometimes become a real creative challenge. But what if somebody could do it for us?
When an Amazon.es customer asks to receive their order gift-wrapped, something very special happens at the logistics centre in San Fernando de Henares (near Madrid), or one of the other Amazon Fulfilment Centres in Europe, not only because of the care and attention to detail required, but also because of the joy and excitement of the people who make it all possible. We’re talking about our “packers” (the people who prepare the orders), in other words, our professional gift-wrappers. And this job is more important than ever at Christmas.
Attention to detail
When asked what the trickiest item she’s ever had to wrap was, Patricia laughs and responds with hesitation, “a fire extinguisher”. Whatever product they are wrapping, the team is ready. Everyone on the team receives special training to ensure that the gift arrives in perfect condition. “It’s our attention to detail that lends the packages that special charm,” Patricia reveals.
At the tables where the gifts are wrapped, emotions sometimes run high, especially around Christmas. “If someone gives you a gift, it’s because they love you. A gift is more than a material object; it’s the excitement and the thought behind it as well,” Patricia points out. Lorena confesses that when she’s wrapping gifts, she feels part of the year's most anticipated moment for a child: “We’re a bit like Santa’s little helpers”.
We invite you to meet some of the people who will be busiest this Christmas and discover the excitement with which Amazon employees wrap your gifts, thinking about the smile on the face of the person who will open it.
