Amazon has called Luxembourg home since 2003, when we established our European headquarters in the country. More than two decades later, that commitment is only growing and it’s reflected in investment, in jobs and in the relationships we've built with the communities around us.
In 2024, we invested more than €1.8 billion in Luxembourg, including infrastructure and employee compensation and contributing an additional €700+ million to Luxembourg's GDP. Or investments supported more than 4,900 indirect jobs and 1,400 induced jobs in sectors like construction, logistics and professional services, bringing our total employment impact in Luxembourg to more than 10,500 jobs.
"These figures demonstrate our ongoing commitment to the country and highlight the positive impact our investments continue to have on Luxembourg's economy," said Mariangela Marseglia, Vice President, European Stores.
Mariangela stepped into her role leading Amazon's European retail business in March 2025, bringing 25 years of experience across consulting, marketing and retail. She had been front and centre for some of our most meaningful moments in Luxembourg over the past year.
Welcoming His Royal Highness Grand Duke Guillame
One of those moments was the visit of His Royal Highness Grand Duke Guillaume, then Crown Prince, to our Kirchberg campus. Organised by the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, the visit brought together senior Amazon leaders including Sonja Rotondaro, Vice President of EU & JP Stores Finance; Stefano Perego, Vice President of International Operations; Mariangela and others for conversations about our role in Luxembourg's economy. Exchanges addressed innovation, job creation and community investment - highlighting our role as one of the country's largest employers, with over 4,250 people representing more than 100 nationalities. The Grand Duke also joined Perego and Luxembourg's Minister of Economy, Lex Delles, to pack hygiene kits for people in need for our global 'Education is Key' campaign.
The visit wrapped up with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for our annual ‘Breathe, Smile, and Bike to Work’ campaign: a summer-long initiative that gets employees on two wheels while supporting local causes. In 2025, Amazonians in Luxembourg cycled over 50,000 kilometres and we aim to beat it this year. Employees also met with local NGOs and bike lease providers and enjoyed some music and refreshments. It's wellness, community, and a little friendly competition rolled into one.
We marked the occasion by announcing €50,000 in grants to local nonprofits - a gesture that reflected the genuine ties we've built with the Grand Duchy over more than two decades.
Helping people in need
Additionally, Amazonians have come together to donate 2,140 laptops to date and pack over 3,000 backpacks with stationary essentials. These items were distributed to underserved children and adult learners through our partners at Croix-Rouge Luxembourgeoise, Stëmm vun der Stross and Digital Inclusion.
More recently, we were proud to be part of conversations around Women’s History Month in March. Under the theme ‘Give to Gain’, our Women at Amazon community held a series of internal events to remind Amazonians that the most resilient organisations are not built on individual achievement alone, but on generosity, mentorship, advocacy and simply showing up for each other.
As we look ahead, we're energised by what's possible when commitment meets community. Luxembourg has been a partner in growth, a place where innovation thrives and a home where our people build lives as well as careers. The investments we're making, the jobs we're creating and the moments we're sharing with neighbors and nonprofits are all part of our story. We're proud of what we've built together over the past two decades and excited about what comes next.
