Amazon today announced the launch of a new Community Fund to help local community groups, schools, and organisations in Kilmore Quay, Wexford, Ireland. The fund, managed and administered by non-profit organisation ChangeX, will support multiple community projects in the area through grants of up to €10,000.

The initiative enables local groups to launch new projects or expand existing ones that focus on Science, Technology, Engineeing, Maths education, sustainability, or health and wellbeing initiatives. The fund aims to create lasting positive impact in the coastal community of Kilmore Quay and surrounding areas.

Making an impact

The Write By The Sea Festival exemplifies the transformative effect of Amazon's community investment. "Amazon and ChangeX made a real and lasting difference to our small, volunteer-run festival in rural Wexford," says Sasha Wilson, Chairperson of the Write By The Sea Festival. "Financial support from Amazon allowed us to offer a series of free events for our local community, opening the festival to people who might not otherwise have come through the doors."

Wilson added: "More than anything, the sponsorship gave us space to be ambitious—to try new things, reach new audiences, and offer something generous and inclusive. For a festival like ours, rooted in a small coastal village, that kind of opportunity means the world."

Strengthening local development

The Kilmore Community Development Association has also benefited from previous funding rounds. Breda Hayes, Board Member of the Association, highlighted how Amazon's support has enabled various community improvements: "Kilmore Quay Community Development Association thrives from the support and commitment of volunteers, community groups, and businesses in close collaboration with local authorities, state agencies, and organisations such as the Amazon Community Fund."

The Association has successfully implemented several projects, including community garden development, heritage preservation initiatives, sports facilities improvements, and the refurbishment of their Memorial Garden.

Looking forward

"We're thrilled to launch another round of funding for Kilmore Quay and the wider Kilmore community," says Joanne Reynolds, Community Engagement Manager at Amazon. "We've seen many excellent projects established and existing projects enhanced with previous funding rounds and we're excited to see the roll out of more ideas and innovations by community groups in the area."

How to apply

The fund is open to people living in the Kilmore Quay area. Applications will be assessed based on funding criteria and potential community impact. ChangeX, headquartered in Dublin, will manage the application process through their community engagement platform, ensuring resources reach those who can make the most impact in their neighbourhoods.
