Paris, September 27, 2019 - Audible, world’s leading producer and distributor of audiobooks and other spoken-word content, opened its new studios in Paris on September 27, 2019. Located in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, Audible Studios will host recordings of Audible Originals titles and Audible productions.

A SPACE FOR CULTURAL CREATION

Since 2016 Audible has stimulated and supported the growth of audio entertainment in France, producing more than 500 titles per year. In total, there are now more than 10,000 French-language titles available on audible.fr, with Audible investing nearly 10 million Euro in the creation of French-language content in the past three years alone, working with French creators (authors, actors, producers…), and closely working with partners from the publishing industry.

The opening of Audible Studio in Paris is the next step in Audible’s efforts to bring distinctive audio programming to French listeners. In 2017, Audible France released its first Audible Original, and in the subsequent years has increased production in response to customer demand. In 2019, Audible France released 18 Audible Originals, in various genres (young adult, fiction, non-fiction, and more).

“Audible was created to unleash the emotive music in language, a founding vision that seems tailor-made for a language as mellifluous as French,’’ said Audible founder and CEO Don Katz. ‘’We are thrilled to be stepping up our focus in France and on behalf of French listeners, authors and actors, and this beautiful new studio is a momentous step forward in support of a culturally relevant and distinctive Audible service in France.”

“The inauguration of the Paris Audible studios is a new step in Audible's commitment in the creation and dissemination of culture in France, and we are very proud of it. This structure will allow us to further develop content creation, which had become necessary considering our growth and our ambitions for the years to come.", explains Constanze Stypula, Country Manager Audible France.

With a hundred square meters and three recording booths equipped with the latest technology, Audible is giving itself the means to meet the growing demand of its listeners. Titles that require multi-voice recording will be recorded in the large booth. The other two smaller booths can operate together or independently. Ultimately, the Audible studio will have the ability to record titles in binaural audio. Two sound and audio experts will give future productions the best possible listening quality, an important consideration for all Audible content.

A SPACE FOR SHARING AND EXCHANGE

Audible's mission is to democratize culture and explore the infinite possibilities of audio. The opening of the Audible studios in Paris is part of this approach. In addition to recordings of in-house productions and Audible Originals, Audible is committed to offering the use of its new facilities to other content creators: emerging podcasting talents and audio start-ups will thus be able to benefit from the structure and studios.

To further its support of the democratization of culture, Audible established a partnership with the Pass Culture when it launched in 2018. Today, Audible's commitment to young people goes a step further with - in addition to an annual subscription at a reduced price - the possibility for young people benefiting from the culture pass to participate in creative workshops. These workshops will allow them to discover professions in audio: podcast creation, artistic direction and sound editing are the first tracks for these workshops, which will take place in the Audible studios in 2020.
