Milan, 21 November, 2019 — Amazon announces it has created 400 new Corporate jobs in less than two years doubling its workforce in Milan. To accommodate the growing workforce Amazon has opened three additional floors in the second wing of its sustainable corporate offices in the heart of the emerging business district of Porta Nuova hosting additional 230 work points in 3.000 sqm. The Monte Grappa building is the workplace for more than 800 current corporate employees and provides the company with the best setting to attract and retain the best talents for its corporate roles. Once fully operational, the building will be able to accommodate up to 1,100 people.

The building is the result of the restoration of one of Milan’s most iconic office complexes of the 1970’s, a decades-long symbol of Maire Tecnimont. It features a new glazed façade that increases permeability and natural lighting. The offices are hosted on 15 floors covering more than 17,500 square meters. The building provides employees with a functional, modern and distinctive workspace. The complex consists of two buildings connected at all levels by a central block containing the four main lifts. To favor team interactions, the building offers meeting rooms of different dimensions, phone booths, flex rooms, open team collaboration areas as well as a business center area.

The building includes many sustainability features from a systems standpoint as well as in terms of finishes, and achieved the LEED Platinum certification. Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is one of the most popular green building certification programs used worldwide, developed by the non-profit U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). This important recognition is the result of some fundamental technical and technological choices. The Monte Grappa building was in fact designed according to the criteria of energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. All aspects of the project system (housing, systems, lighting, architecture) have high levels of efficiency and integration. The building is able to limit the impact on the environment, and is designed with a cultural approach aimed at reducing energy consumption using renewable sources, reducing water consumption, using materials with particular characteristics and provenance , with attention to the life cycle of the building and its components, aiming at the welfare of the occupants and social sustainability. The building boasts a special cooling and heating system and the terrace hosts 200 sq. meters of photovoltaic panels. The lighting system features fully automated regulation that which guarantees structural energy saving.
