Amazon is committed to being a great employer, which includes helping our people grow their careers and develop the skills needed in an ever-changing work environment. This is why we are significantly enhancing our Career Choice program, removing barriers to education and fostering professional development for its employees. The enhanced program is planned to take effect from August 2025 following country-specific employee-representative engagement and implementation processes, and demonstrates Amazon's strengthened commitment to supporting employees' career aspirations, whether at Amazon or elsewhere. For this, Amazon has set aside more than €25 million in 2026 alone.
Breaking Down Barriers to Education
The enhanced program includes several significant updates:
- Amazon is now prepaying up to 100% of tuition fees, eliminating the 5% employee contribution requirement for all programs
- Removal of the previous four-year budget cap, allowing employees to continue their education journey
- Increased employees’ annual budget limit across participating countries
- Continue to offer over 100 different programs across more than 40 career paths in partnership with more than 85 educational institutions across Europe
Career Choice, which launched in Europe in 2014, has already helped more than 50,000 European employees pursue their educational and career goals. The program currently serves employees across nine European countries, including the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, and Slovakia. Globally Amazon has upskilled over 700,000 Amazon employees through education and training programs, creating meaningful career pathways for the people who bring Amazon to life across so many teams.

"With this update to Career Choice, we follow our commitment to help our employees develop the skills needed in a changing work environment”, says Robert Marhan, VP of People eXperience and Technology for Amazon’s Operations network in Europe. “Eligible employees can choose their career pathway and follow it as Amazon supports and prepays tuition fees”.
Investment in skills for the future
The program's enhancement reflects the changing nature of work and skills in today's economy. Currently, more than 150,000 employees across Europe are eligible for Career Choice. The program offers flexibility in course selection, allowing participants to pursue education in fields ranging from IT to transportation and skilled trades. Technology education stands at the forefront of this initiative, with courses in Cloud Support Specialist, Data Analyst, and Software Development designed to meet industry needs and future-proof careers.
