By joining the Climate Pledge, signatories agree to measure and report greenhouse gas emissions on a regular basis and to implement de-carbonization strategies in line with the Paris Agreement to achieve net zero annual carbon emissions by 2040.
Adina-Ioana Vălean, European Commissioner for Transport shared insights on sustainable transportation in Europe.
“If I would have to describe it in just three words these words would be digitalization, innovation and de-carbonization. In a broad description, we plan to boost the uptake of zero-emission vehicles and use a basket of measures to see our ports and airports become greener. ”
Kara Hurst, Vice President of Worldwide Sustainability at Amazon presented the Climate Pledge and the latest sustainability initiatives, such as Climate Pledge Friendly products, that we've recently rolled out across Europe. She announced:
- Two new signatories to the Climate Pledge, Henkel and Signify
- Our first off-site solar project in Europe in Seville, Spain

How can transportation policies contribute to achieve the green goals of companies and governments? featured a panel debate with Caroline Nagtegaal, MEP and Member of the European Transport Committee, Andreas Marschner, Vice President of Amazon Transportation Services in Europe, and Holger Krahmer, Head of EU Affairs at Daimler.
We concluded with Virginijus Sinkevičius Commissioner for Environment, Oceans and Fisheries who shared a video message urging online stores to help customers maker more sustainable choices.
“We want to work together with online marketplaces in building the sustainable future. Digital solutions provide numerous opportunities to enable customers to make smarter choices and encourage companies to offer products that are more sustainable.”
