This role represents an opportunity to challenge stereotypes and demonstrate that skills and dedication matter more than arbitrary gender norms. At Amazon, diversity is a top priority, and we focus on removing barriers to enable more people to build a future in the industry, regardless of their gender.

Known onsite as “The Rocket” for her precision and speed, A.S.L's driver Anja Lehmann, is working to help shape a more inclusive future for women in transportation, one delivery at a time.

Precision, professionalism, and pride in the work

Each day, Anja approaches her work with focus and pride. From fuelling and connecting trailers to driving long stretches and navigating fulfilment centres (FC), her role is complex and dynamic.

“I simply have the coolest job in the world. I have a lot of freedom and get around a lot. I’m moving a 40-tonne truck with a very valuable load that will later bring a smile to many people’s faces.” says Anja.

Her commitment hasn’t gone unnoticed by others. “Anja is one of the best drivers we have,” says Hasan Yildirim, the Managing Director of our Amazon Freight Partners from A.S.L.  “People love her. She’s very natural with people. She is modest, so she won’t tell you, but she really does go above and beyond.”

Due to Anja's hard work, skill, and passion, she participated in Amazon's hydrogen truck pilot. She currently drives a brand new Mercedes-Benz GenH2 fuel-cell truck, one of only five in existence, in a trial involving A.S.L. and Amazon that aims to transform the transportation industry's sustainability landscape.

Driving meaningful change

Both her confidence and consistent performance have earned her respect throughout her team at A.S.L.. At the FRA7 FC, employees look forward to her arrival. FC Lead Chris Roepke says, “We are always happy when Anja comes to us. She is a great driver, very efficient and, above all, safe.”

Supporting diversity on the road

Anja is one of a growing number of women entering professional driving roles across Europe—still a minority in the industry. At Amazon, we’re working to change that. Diversity is integral to our business. Across our transportation network and with our partners, we’re focused on removing barriers and ensuring more people get the opportunity to build a future in the industry, regardless of their gender.

This includes supporting partners who build inclusive driver teams, recognising individual contributions, and championing stories like Anja's that challenge the status quo in a meaningful way. As the transportation industry evolves, representation behind the wheel matters. Drivers like Anja are showing what's possible when skill, confidence, and opportunity come together, reminding us that progress often happens in everyday moments.

Whether she’s trialling the latest technology or seeing new parts of the world, Anja brings the same inspirational mindset to every shift: get the job done and do it well.

About Amazon Freight Partner

Amazon Freight Partner is a unique opportunity to launch, or expand, a trucking business, even without prior logistics experience. Participants can start with as few as 1–3 Amazon‑branded, fuel‑efficient trucks (no upfront deposit) and scale up to a fleet of 10 (or, in some cases, 15) vehicles. Beyond trucks, Amazon provides extensive support: an exclusive accelerator training program, access to coached operations, maintenance services, and negotiated deals on key expenses like insurance and fuel.
