The ability to shape work around life, rather than the other way around, can define everything. For Alexandra Carabelea, that need became the starting point of a transformation, one that would take her from supermarket manager to business owner in just a few years.

Early mornings at home, preparing for the day ahead, balancing responsibilities before the world properly wakes up. Like many parents, her priorities were clear: stability, progress, and being present for her daughter. But at the time, the path forward felt limited. Despite working hard in her role as a supermarket manager, Alexandra found herself unable to reach key life goals, like buying her own home. That was the turning point.

Looking for a way to improve her financial situation, she made a decisive shift into logistics. With a driving licence already in hand, she quickly retrained and stepped into a new role as a driver. At this stage, Alexandra wasn’t running her own business, she was driving for a carrier who used Amazon Relay, gaining first-hand experience of the platform through the Relay app and seeing how work was planned and managed day-to-day. Within a year, Alexandra was ready to take the next step.

Working under Shashi Sharma, Director of Empire Logistics Transportation Ltd., Alexandra developed a clear understanding of how the system worked, not from the outside, but from behind the wheel. She saw the consistency of work, the structure behind scheduling, and the opportunity it created for carriers to grow. The change was immediate, not just in income, but in possibility.

And importantly, this wasn’t about working for Amazon, it was about working for herself. Alexandra founded Dialex LTD, stepping into business ownership with a clear vision of what she wanted to build.

From there, momentum built quickly. Through Amazon Relay, Alexandra found a system that allowed her to grow with clarity and control. Predictable work with Relay Contracts meant she could plan ahead. Pre-scheduled shifts and built-in protections reduced uncertainty. And a reliable payment structure (with payments arriving within seven days) gave her the financial stability needed to run a business and support a growing team. With that foundation in place, Alexandra began to scale. What started with a single truck expanded into a fleet of seven within two years. Each new vehicle represented more than growth, it marked progress, resilience, and the ability to build something sustainable over time.

Within two years, she had gone from entering a new industry to running her own operation. But success, for Alexandra, isn’t measured purely in numbers. Because alongside that growth came something equally important: control over her time. The flexibility to choose when and where she works has reshaped her day-to-day life. It means being able to start work early, finish when it matters, and be present for the moments that can’t be rescheduled, school runs, conversations, small milestones that define family life. That balance is what makes the difference.

Today, Alexandra continues to grow Dialex LTD with the same determination that drove her first decision to change direction. But now, that ambition sits alongside something more sustainable, a way of working that supports both her professional goals and her role as a parent. Her journey is proof that with the right experience, the right support, and the right tools, it’s possible to build something independently, and grow it quickly. Amazon Relay didn’t just support that growth. It enabled it.
