Five years ago, Amazon.pl launched in Poland. Today it's part of the daily shopping routine for millions of Poles. How have customer expectations shifted in that time, and what role does AI play in all of this? That's exactly what we explore in the latest episode of the Amazon Stage podcast. A conversation about what drives innovation in retail and how artificial intelligence (AI) is changing the way people discover and choose products.
The bar keeps moving
Mariangela was one of the first people to bring Prime Now to Europe: Grocery Delivery in under an hour. Getting there took 100 days of building from scratch. What once sounded like an ambitious promise quickly became the new normal.
How AI is changing shopping on Amazon.pl
Mariangela talks through the AI tools we have built for both customers and sellers. On the customer side, the goal is to make shopping less effortful: finding what you need faster, comparing options more easily, and making more confident decisions. On the seller side, AI lowers the entry barrier. SMEs now have access to capabilities that used to require large teams and significant budgets.
Polish businesses on Amazon are going global
The vast majority of Polish SMEs selling on Amazon export outside the country. This is a striking contrast to the broader market, where cross-border trade remains the exception rather than the rule.
Mariangela puts it down to removing friction: automatic translation of listings into ten languages, logistics, compliance, paperwork. Businesses focus on their product while technology handles the rest.
