Amazon investments in Poland

€8.9 billion (PLN 38 billion) invested in Poland

Amazon has been steadily pursuing a long-term growth strategy in Poland. Since 2012, the company has invested over €8.9 billion (PLN 38 billion)—including more than €1.8 billion (PLN 8 billion) in 2024 alone—in infrastructure, job creation, support for Polish SMEs, and the development of advanced technologies. This local focus is also evident in the expansion of Amazon.pl, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Prime Video.

Significant contribution to Poland’s GDP

Amazon’s investments in 2024 generated over €1.1 billion (PLN 5 billion) in Poland’s GDP. Since 2012, the company’s total economic impact has exceeded €6.3 billion (PLN 27 billion). Notably, every złoty invested by Amazon in Poland has generated approximately €0.24 (PLN 1.02) in added value.

Investing in employees and job creation in Poland:

According to Keystone estimates, by the end of 2024, we directly employed more than 19,000 people in Poland and supported over 30,000 indirect and 10,000 induced jobs created or sustained through employee spending in the local economy. Furthermore, the growth of e-commerce sales enabled Polish sellers on Amazon to create more than 14,000 jobs. We continue to invest in advanced technologies and artificial intelligence to enhance logistics efficiency, improve employee safety, and support professional development by breaking down educational barriers. Starting in August 2025, thanks to new funding rules and additional training opportunities under the Career Choice programme, employees at Amazon fulfilment centres will find it even easier to gain and upgrade skills—from data analytics and programming to technical specialisations such as mechatronics, as well as accounting and commercial driving courses. So far, more than 7,000 employees in Poland have benefited from the programme.

Amazon fund supports local communities:

Through the Amazon Fund, the company has allocated over €237,000 (PLN 1 million) to finance NGO initiatives and doctoral research projects, supporting the development of future-ready skills within local communities centred around Amazon sites.

Commitment to climate and environmental protection:

We're implementing our global decarbonisation strategy, aiming to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. One of our key projects in Poland in 2024 was the commercial launch of a photovoltaic farm in Miłkowice—our first renewable energy project in Poland. We're involved in four Renewable Energy Source (RES) projects across the country, which will collectively generate over 140 megawatts (MW) of zero-emission power—enough to supply more than 100,000 Polish households annually.

Additionally, over the next three years, we will contribute over €1 million (PLN 4.3 million) to restore wetlands in Kampinos National Park (KPN). The project, funded through our global Right Now Climate Fund (RNCF) and carried out in partnership with the Polish Society for the Protection of Birds (OTOP), aims to preserve the park’s critical habitats and the rich biodiversity they support, including around 1,400 plant species, over 50 mammal species, and more than 200 native bird species.

Growth of Polish SMEs and seller support on Amazon.pl

In 2024, Polish entrepreneurs selling on Amazon delivered an average of 70 products per minute to customers around the world—more than 35 million products annually, an increase of 5 million compared to 2023. The export value of Polish SMEs through Amazon exceeded €1.2 billion (PLN 5.1 billion) in 2024.
We have also launched a special accelerator programme for new sellers on Amazon.pl, offering six months free of subscription and referral fees, along with discounts of up to 50% on Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) services. The programme streamlines the process for Polish entrepreneurs to start and grow their online businesses.

Expansion of logistics and technology infrastructure

In 2024, we opened our 11th fulfilment centre in Poland, located in Gorzyczki, strengthening national logistics infrastructure and enabling faster deliveries for Amazon.pl customers and across the Central and Eastern European region.

We're also expanding our Amazon Development Centres in Poland, where innovative solutions such as Alexa, Ring, Blink, and Sidewalk are created—technologies used by millions of customers worldwide.

Growth of AWS in Poland: Cloud innovation, AI, and business support

AWS gas significantly expanded its presence in Poland, offering advanced cloud services. A key milestone was the launch of the first AWS Local Zone in Central and Eastern Europe, located in Warsaw, providing customers with ultra-low-latency access to AWS services. AWS also operates an Amazon CloudFront Edge location to enhance digital content delivery, as well as offices in Warsaw and a research team in Gdańsk developing cutting-edge cloud technologies.

Globally consistent, locally relevant

To reflect local customer preferences, Amazon.pl has launched the Brands of Poland store and the Climate Pledge Friendly programme, encouraging customers to discover and purchase more sustainable products.

“The image of the modern consumer that emerges from our research shows that people increasingly seek shopping environments combining attractiveness, speed, and safety—all in one digital space. This should be the guiding principle of modern e-commerce: to offer not only convenience, but also trust. It’s encouraging to see that more customers choose to shop on trusted platforms such as Amazon—now declared by 86% of respondents. They feel comfortable there because they can be confident in the authenticity of the products they buy.”
said Katarzyna Ciechanowska-Ciosk, Country Leader for Amazon.pl.

Supporting local culture through Prime Video

In line with the “global scale, local relevance” approach, Amazon is also expanding Prime Video’s local offering. Among new productions are the music talent show RAP Generation, the competitive reality show The 50, and season three of LOL: Last One Laughing. Following the success of the Szczęsny documentary, new Polish productions are in the pipeline, including a documentary about Dorota “Doda” Rabczewska.

Prime Video—together with Prime Gaming—is part of the Amazon Prime membership program, which offers unlimited, fast, and free delivery on millions of products from Amazon.pl, with no minimum purchase amount required.
