I recently had the pleasure of joining Natalie Berg on her Retail Disrupted podcast to talk about something close to my heart: how we're rethinking speed, convenience, and what it really means to give customers their time back. Natalie is one of the sharpest voices in retail, so it was a fantastic conversation - we covered everything from 30-minute grocery delivery to why cutting friction is no longer enough.

The magic keeps moving

A few years ago, two-day delivery felt like magic. Now? Customers shrug. Today, 30-minute delivery is what gets people excited - and that's what we're doing. With Amazon Now, we've delivered groceries in as little as 17 minutes. In India, a protein bar arrived in under seven.

But customers are using ultra-fast delivery for more than emergencies. They're using it for dinner - to have the luxury of deciding what to eat half an hour before - and that's reshaping how people shop.

Beyond speed

Speed matters, but it's not the whole story. That's why we've introduced features like adding items to a delivery already on its way (because we all forget something), choosing your exact delivery window, and consolidating grocery and non-food into one single basket.

This works due to proximity: we're opening micro fulfilment centres close to where customers live and automating everything inside them, so items move fast from the shelf to their doorstep.

Looking ahead

We experiment a lot - not everything sticks, and that's by design. Right now, we're doubling down on e-commerce for groceries because we believe home delivery is what works best for customers. Physical stores won't disappear, but today's innovation becomes tomorrow's norm. And we intend to keep moving.
